The Nintendo Switch is the best-selling home console of all time in France, according to Le Figaro, with 7.09 million units sold since its release in March 2017. The only console still ahead is the Nintendo DS, with over 10.5 million units sold as of 2016 (though there don’t seem to be up-to-date figures for the PS1 or PS2 in the country, both megahits in Europe as a whole).
While the Nintendo Switch sales in France are impressive, it still has a way to go to catch up with its dual-screen counterpart. Sony isn’t far behind in the country, with PlayStation 4 sales at around six million, and the PlayStation 3 just behind, a good way over five million units.
In Europe as a whole, Nintendo’s hybrid is far behind Sony’s PS1 and PS2 in terms of lifetime sales, and if the possibility of a Switch 2 is on the horizon, it may not reach their monster sales. If the console’s popularity has piqued your interest, check out our Nintendo Switch Lite review for more.
